Many people think they must take their car back to the dealer for scheduled maintenance services while their car is under warranty but that is not true. In fact, the Magnuson-Moss Act passed by congress in 1975 makes it illegal for a car manufacture to require you to have your scheduled service done at one of their dealers to maintain your warranty. Many people also don’t know that the maintenance packages sold when you purchase your car frequently only meet the bare minimum scheduled maintenance. This could possibly leave you to foot the bill for failures that occur after the warranty expires that could have been prevented by proper maintenance.
